Kastamuni

KASTAMUNI (KASTAMONU): This prison camp was located in the Vilayet of Kastamuni in northern Anatolia in Asia Minor. The town was situated on a tributary of the Kizul Irmak, 110 miles north-northeast of Angora. The Turks incarcerated British prisoners captured at Kut-al-Amara in several buildings in the city in July 1916, including the Greek School House and the Lower House camp which featured a chapel, library, restaurant, and badminton court. Prisoners also had access to a soccer field just outside of town.
